Britannia Models is a family run business. The business started out several
years ago as an extension of a hobby, when we found it difficult to obtain
British model railway items in North America. We thought that there must
be other modellers at the same level of frustration and decided to try
and correct the situation.
That was back in 1994 and now Britannia Models has grown to the point
that we have probably the largest inventory and retail display of new
and used, British model trains in Canada, if not in North America.
Our models have been available to walk-in customers, from our retail premises,
since 1997. We were one of the first model train suppliers to have an
internet site, starting our web presence in 1998, which has enhanced our
ability to provide British railway modellers across North America, and
indeed in many other corners of the world, with mail order service for
many of their needs.
We believe we are the place in North America for a comprehensive selection
of British model trains and accessories! As a family-run, small business,
our customers are very important to us and we try to reflect this in our
service. If you need clarification about any of the products that we carry,
just email, or call us, and we will do our best to provide answers to
your questions. We are NOT a remote, click and shop, catalogue store.
Rather, we try to be as much of a full service store in the on-line environment,
as we are if you are shopping in person at our bricks and mortar store.
In other words, we are here to help, not just to sell!
Located on the west coast of Canada, near the Canada/US border, we are
ideally located to provide all North American modellers of British railways
with first class service for their modeling needs. Information regarding
our store location and hours of operation can be found here. (Dates of
closures due to attendance at Train Shows, etc., will also be posted on
this page).
We carry a comprehensive product range, to help you complete your projects
or extend your collection. We are especially keen to assist newcomers
to British railway modeling and welcome questions on how best to start
or proceed. We hope that in return for us taking the time to answer your
questions and provide assistance where we are able, you will allow us
the opportunity to quote on your modeling purchases, when we believe you
will find we provide a competitive overall service for your modeling needs.
Our goal is and has been, to build our business on a solid reputation
for excellent service with fair and competitive pricing. To us, service
is a whole lot more than simply price. If you like our service we hope
you will tell others about us. If you have a concern with our service
or products, we hope you will tell us, so that we might have a chance
to make things right.
We attend model train shows, mostly in our local area in western Canada,
but we do try to attend the Great British Train Show held every second
year in Brampton, north-west of Toronto, Ontario.
