British Rail Standard Diesels of the 1960's

British Rail Standard Diesels of the 1960's

An examination of the British Railways diesel locomotive fleet on a class-by-class basis, excluding shunters, as it was in the 1960s providing information on the key design features, entry into traffic, and operational experience. It draws on fresh information from the official files which are now open for inspection within the National Archive, which were previously closed under the 30-year rule, and brings to light new facts and contradictions of previously held beliefs over the development of diesel power. Fully illustrated throughout with many photographs being published for the first time. 160 b/w photos. Hard Back.
